CableScope Modular and Scaleable Data Logging System for life time testing on cables The CableScope is a data logger system allowing life time testing of electrical components, especially cables based on conductor measurements. Time related variations of measured resistance of the conductor are used for life time evaluation. A number of independent test stations can be used for data logging, each providing up to 256 test channels. This modular system is highly flexible allowing life time testing on a huge number of DUT in parallel. Each test station works fully autonomic allowing new hardware configuration, calibration or repair without interfering of other test station. If required, each test station can be operated by an individual controller, e. g. for hardware setup or when service is needed. The communication between test stations and controller uses the LAN or USB-link, alternatively.
The following figure shows a typical configuration of the CableScope . Picturelabel: logging data, protocols, allocation, evaluation, work station, measuring station, process management system, viewing, evaluation.
Features of the CableScope:
- Scalability: The number of test points is not limited by hardware components
- Flexibility: Vendor independent measuring instruments (e. g. ohmmeter). Adoption or expansion of object library via dynamical driver.
- Reliability: Configuration or service of test stations do not interfere other test stations. In case repair is needed, individual system components can be easily exchanged online (hot-plug ability).
- Data protection: For data storage, the network server is used to provide automatic back up and retrace ability.
- Automatic message generation: In case of out-of-limit situations or other urgent events an email message is automatically generated to inform the responsible workforce.
- Minimized network loading, high safety: To minimize network load, poll principle is used instead of permanent client server link.
- Modular program structure: Different modules are used for evaluation, configuration and operation allowing cost efficient upgrades or modifications.
- Easy handling: For system control, a standard PC is used avoiding special adoptions and preparations.
- Traceable calibration: As four wire method is used, accuracy given by the measuring instrument is not degraded by current feeders.
- Post processing of stored data: Database storage with huge capacity allows extensive data evaluation as for example curve arithmetic, historical and statistical analysis. A powerful design generator allows creation of various printout formats for result presentation.
